The mission committee have identified four different types of candidate for mission service. These have been summarised below:
| Candidate Type | Description |
| Union Road/Lecumpher Team Worker | A candidate who desires to serve on a Union Road/Lecumpher team |
| Mission Team Worker | A candidate who desires to serve individually or on a team with the support of Union Road for a period of three months or less |
| Short Term Worker | A candidate who desires to serve with the support of Union Road for a period of longer than three months but shorter than two years |
| Long Term Worker | A candidate who desires to serve with the support of Union Road for a period longer than two years |
All candidates from Union Road considering a period of mission service must follow the correct application process as set out by the mission committee in the mission policy.
